New café and coffee bar offers new amenity to University of Maryland BioPark Knowledge Community
Wexford Science & Technology is pleased to announce the addition of two new food and beverage destinations within the University of Maryland BioPark: Bijou by Buttonwood and The Bun Shop that will open this summer. These locally beloved Baltimore brands, led by restaurateur Minh Vo, will offer globally inspired menus and specialty coffee service to tenants, students, university and medical staff, and the broader community.

Bijou by Buttonwood, located on the ground floor of 801 West Baltimore Street, is an offshoot of The Buttonwood, which features a collection of owner, Minh Vo’s favorite meals and flavors from around the world. The newly named Bijou by Buttonwood is an expansion of the global flavors from The Buttonwood and reflects Vo’s culinary journey and passion for international flavors. Bijou features a curated menu of globally inspired sandwiches, salads including and a build-your-own salad option, and a few other favorites from The Buttonwood menu. The café will also serve the same high-quality coffee, espresso, and tea offerings that have made The Bun Shop a local favorite.
Located at 4MLK, at the corner of North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and West Baltimore Street, The Bun Shop will open inside 4MLK’s Civic Lounge, offering a welcoming, public drop-in space. Known for its eclectic menu of hand-held buns from around the world, The Bun Shop will serve a collection of culturally iconic and inspired buns from around the world, such as Paraguayan empanadas, Indian chicken tikka rolls, English pastries, and chickpea curry puffs—alongside a rotating selection of sweet and savory options. The Bun Shop offers an expansive selection of coffee, espresso, and loose-leaf teas sourced globally.

Our menus celebrate culturally iconic and inspired flavors from around the world, designed to offer a little taste of home for everyone, no matter where they’re from. Bringing Bijou and The Bun Shop to the BioPark felt like a natural fit, our flavors and the community’s palate are a perfect match,” said Minh Vo, owner and operator of The Bun Shop and The Buttonwood.
Opening in late July 2025, Bijou is located on the ground floor at 801 W. Baltimore St. with the entrance from Baltimore Street. Additional outdoor seating is available under a covered patio and open courtyard. It will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Opening late summer 2025, The Bun Shop is located in the Civic Lounge (ground floor) of 4MLK located at the corner of N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and W. Baltimore St. It will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m
