The Programs & Engagement Associate is responsible for producing high-quality programs and community experiences that strengthen connectivity, visibility, and value within the BioPark Knowledge Community.
Working under the direction of the Knowledge Community Director, this role serves as the primary execution lead for Wexford-led and partner-led programs, including workshops, speaker series, networking events, community activations, and special initiatives. The position is highly visible and requires exceptional organization, creativity, customer service, and relationship-building skills. This is an in-person role. Given there will be a mix of early morning and evening programs from time to time, there is some flexibility in the schedule and work hours.
Wexford Science & Technology, LLC is a real estate company focused on partnering with universities, academic medical centers, and research institutions to develop vibrant, mixed-use, amenity-rich innovation districts known as Knowledge Communities.
The University of Maryland BioPark is a cornerstone of Baltimore’s life sciences ecosystem and serves as a hub for research, commercialization, workforce development, and industry collaboration.
- Execute Wexford-led programs including speaker series, workshops, networking events, innovation showcases, and community activations.
- Coordinate partner-led programs and serve as the primary point of contact for program logistics.
- Develop and manage run-of-show documents and event timelines.
- Ensure a seamless attendee experience before, during, and after programs.
- Schedule may include occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends.
Community Engagement
- Serve as a visible and welcoming representative of the BioPark Knowledge Community.
- Foster engagement among tenants, university partners, entrepreneurs, researchers, and community members.
- Support initiatives that increase participation, collaboration, and tenant satisfaction.
- Gather feedback and identify opportunities for future programming.
Program Coordination

- Coordinate speakers, panelists, facilitators, sponsors, and partners.
- Maintain program calendars and planning documents.
- Work closely with the Event Operations Associate to communicate program requirements and space needs.
- Support volunteer and stakeholder coordination and on-site program logistics as needed.
Communications & Marketing Support
- Create program content for newsletters, social media, websites, and email campaigns.
- Assist with promotion and audience development efforts.
- Track attendance, engagement, and program outcomes.
- Produce post-event reports and recommendations.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, event management, community engagement, or related fields, or 2–4 years of experience in programming, events, community engagement, or nonprofit/community-building work.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Experience with social media, email marketing platforms, and Canva or similar design tools preferred.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Comfortable with occasional physical setup activities and evening/weekend event support.
- Ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Willingness to take on other duties as assigned.
The starting salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $70,000 per year.
