University of California Davis is deepening its international reach through a new partnership with South Korean firm Flann Inc., designed to bring cohorts of up to 10 Korean life sciences startups into the Aggie Square innovation district.

The collaboration, announced during Aggie Square’s grand opening last week, is the result of nearly a year of relationship building, said George Baxter, UC Davis’ chief innovation and economic development officer.

“This grew out of a trade mission to South Korea last year where we heard from entrepreneurs eager to enter the U.S. market,” Baxter said. “Many told us they had promising technology but didn’t know how to get started here.”
